Today we studied the story in Luke about the Samaritan and the Jew. A teacher of Jewish law asked Jesus what to do to have eternal life. Jesus asked him what the Jewish law said about this. "Love God and your neighbors," he said. "Yes," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live." "But who is my neighbor?" the teacher asked. Jesus answered by telling him the story of the wounded jew who was robbed of his clothes and beat up. A Jewish priest saw him and crossed to the other side of the road and went on. Next a temple worker came along and did the same thing. It wasn't until the Samaritan saw him, felt sorry for him, and pulled out his first aid kit to clean his wounds, bandage him and lift him onto his donkey to bring him to the village for more care.

"Which of these three men was a neighbor to the hurt man?" Jesus asked.

"The one who helped him," the teacher replied. Then Jesus told him, "Go and do the same."

Today the kids drew out the injured man on paper. They drew wounds on his body and then "bandaged" one of the wounds. After, we dabbed oil on a cottonball, and "cleaned" the other wounds as the good Samaritan did.
