We got hit by the bug...the virus bug that is. Two nights ago Preston was on the computer when all of a sudden this very official looking Microsoft message popped up saying that our computer was infected with viruses, trojan worms, etc..and that we needed to update our antivirus software or else we were on the verge of losing everything.
Bless my husbands heart, but he thought it was from Microsoft officially, and paid with credit card to basically buy ourselves one genuine virus!
While I was on the phone with my brother...thank GOD for my brother...he is SUCH A HUGE HELP. He was talking with me thru (unfortunately unsuccessfully) how to get rid of the virus while Preston was on the phone with Amex. We filed a dispute not wanting our credit card company to be charged, or further scams to occur on our card, and appearantly this "company" has a standing agreement with Amex that if anyone disputes the charges they will not fight anyone on it. This is just WRONG!!! If Amex knows who this company is that is flagrently putting viruses on peoples computer for the sole purpose of destruction and monetary gain, they should be turned in to the police, FBI, or whomever it is that tracks internet crimes!!
I guess this company is hoping that there will be some poor souls that will not think to call their credit card company and it will just pass by...but they even sent me a receipt...so strange.
Anyways...our computer won't let me on the internet (I'm on a different computer) but all my pictures that I wanted to upload to my blog is on the other computer! GRRRR
Don't be suckered like we were...if you see anything with Antivirus 2009 DO NOT OPEN IT!!!
