It was bound to happen soon enough....

Last night Preston and I got to go on a date night. The babysitter, Robin, arrived and we headed out. We had some time before our 8:05 movie started so we went over to Homegoods to look around. We got to the theater, sat down with our stuff, and at 8:04 1/2 we got the call from Robin that Ashton had busted his chin open!!!

Without even hesitating to get a refund or anything we rushed home to find out that Ashton had decided to "boogie board" on our hardwood floors using the couch pillow!! Unfortunately his chin made contact with the floor instead of the pillow...oi vey! :)

After looking at the wound I decided to take him to Afterhours Pediatrics and have it examined. Let me just tell you...Ashton was the HIT of the place. He seriously was so gregarious, and sweet and respectful to the staff...it was like all the training we have done was paying off in that one moment. He was talkative and used his manners each and everytime he talked with an adult. At one point they asked him if he broke the floor, in which he replied..."No, I broke my chin!" They all cracked up...

It was pretty funny because one of the nurses asked him if he was in Kindergarden and he said Yes, and she said, "boy is your teacher going to LOVE you!" and he told her that he was homeschooled. She was quite surprised. She said "you know, everything I hear is that homeschoolers aren't socialized, but this child is VERY VERY Social, polite and very talkative." I just politely said "yes, that is just a misnomer!" She quite agreed!

Here are the 7 stitches he had to get. He was so brave. He briefly cried when they had to numb the area with the shot, but quickly calmed down...they were amazed at how well he did. Here he is all bandaged up

I'd say the biggest disappointment for him was when the nurse told him that he couldn't swim for one week. This child LOVES to swim. He teared up actually, and then got a bit embarrassed! Poor fella! :)
