Camp Joy

This past Saturday several families from our Sunday School Life Group class got together for a class/family bonding trip. We went to Camp Joy in Apopka and had an absolute BLAST!

Our sleep quarters were two connected dorm rooms that slept 30 people each with a common area in between. We set up our bunks and then headed out to explore. The site has these rope swings thru-out the park and it was definitely a highlight for the kids...and even some of the adults! :)

We had both dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning provided by the staff at Camp Joy. The meals were quite good too! Saturday night was taco night and Sunday morning was Strawberry pancakes and sausage!! YUMMO!
Here the kids are getting their instructions on the balloon burst game they played. Each player had a balloon attached at their ankle. The object of the game was to pop everyone elses balloon while keeping yours un-popped. It was fun!

Of course there were plenty of basketball games going on throughout the weekend!

And of course...eating the smores... We finally got the kids calmed down and in bed around 9:00 and most of the adults met in the common hall for some munchies, card games and LOTS of laughter. Here you can see Jenny, Roddy, Lori, John, Thad & Sean...we played the never-ending phase ten game! Sean of course had us rolling in laughter thru-out most of the night. The Carmichael's and Garcia's were playing Skip-Bo at the table next to us and were awfully quite just getting a laugh out of our conversations!! Finally around 12:30 we decided to cut the game "short" HA and call it a night! We all went to bed and "attempted" to sleep. I think all the parents came home the next day and got much needed naps. Between the bodily noises, snoring, squeaky beds, feet shuffling to the bathroom, etc..it wasn't too peaceful a night for any sufficient shut eye! :)

The next morning we awoke and went to breakfast. Afterwards we all gathered again and Papa John led us all in a short family worship. Many of us then stayed around and played some more games, swung on the rope swings and we ended the day with a swim in the pool!

Overall it was such a fun time. The kids had an absolute blast. It was great to get to know everyone better and spend some real quality time together. Thanks to all that were able to come...looking forward to our next trip! :)
