We recently learned of a free website where you can download grade appropriate book lists that you can take to the library to check out. Once your child reads the book they can log on to take a quiz for each book to see how well they do with reading comprehesion. As long as you get 90% of the questions right you get points. These points are added up to be redeemed for various prizes (from chocolate bars to Scholastic magazine subscriptions...)Well...this is right up Ethan's alley! He loves to read and when "scoring" points is involved, he's all over it! Yesterday we went to a small library around the corner from our house and we were able to get three of the books on the long list. We'll definitely have to go to the downtown library from now on since the selection is much greater there. So this morning I introduced the website to Ethan and he has been a man on a mission since! Fortunately or unfortunately, this has delayed EVERYTHING today, including our normally schedule school routine so that he can read all three books and take the quizzes for each! But that's perfectly okay in my book....I love the fact he wants to read! He did fantastic and is now up to 280 points! Only 20 more for a bookmark...but he's holding out till he gets to 900 to receive a chocolate bar! :)
