We got to recreate and simulate the digestive system!!!
We started with a bowl (which represented our mouth) and put a cracker in it.
(SORRY FOR THE FOCUS...)
We then crushed the cracker up with a fork (your teeth)

The kids then squeezed the bag about 20 times crushing the contents even further, simulating the motions our stomachs do to our food.

Then, we measured out 20 ft. of masking tape (small intestines) and 10 ft. of blue painters tape (large intestines) and zig zagged that along the floor. With their "stomach" bags in hand the boys traveled down the winding intestines to see just how far our food has to travel before exiting the body!
What a miracle our bodies really are!

We did that digestive experiment with LH too....for some reason it always grosses me out. The water and cracker part....ewww. But, you are right, the visuals do reinforce the lesson.
