Martin Luther and Faith

Today during Bible and History we discussed Martin Luther and his role in the Reformation of the Roman Church. For a long time Luther thought he was not good enough or worthy enough to be loved or accepted into heaven by our Perfect Creator. After he read Romans 1:17 "The just shall live by faith alone" he understood that not by works nor good deeds would allow you into heaven. Faith and salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ was ALL YOU NEEDED to enter heaven.

After this he spent his lifetime spreading the gospel and fighting against the Roman Churches belief in paying their way into salvation. The Pope wanted him killed for speaking out against the Roman Church.

For one year he held up in a castle in Wartburg, Germany...home of his friend Prince Frederick. Here he was protected by the walls of the castle, as well as armed guards willing to defend him with their lives.

Today the boys and I built a castle and re-enacted some scenes from our lesson...
