After King Solomon had died, many kings ruled the northern kingdom of Isreal, and all of them were bad. One of the kings, King Ahab, was one of the worst. He worshipped idols and chose priests that would worship his idols. God was very saddened, and angry over this. God sent a prophet, Elijah, to King Ahab. Elijah told the king that because of his sin, God would not send rain to the land of Isreal for three years!
This obviously made King Ahab very mad and he tried to kill Elijah. But God took care of his prophet. He told him to go wait in the wilderness, by the stream. While he was there, God commanded the birds (ravens) to bring food to him every morning and evening.
Here the boys are acting out this story. They are the ravens, using clothespins as beaks, and bringing the "bread" to Elijah. We used a box to represent Elijah.
