Today was the last day of Foundations at Circle Christian School. The kids have been most recently studying the Roman empire so they thought it fitting to give the kids a day in the fields playing several types of Olympic sporting events.
When I first arrived, I saw Ashton, covered in dust from head to toe. Appearantly he got REALLY into the long jump...which happened to be in a pit of dirt! I also so a long faced Ethan, on the verge of tears. He was upset that he did not place (gold, silver and bronze) at any of the various stations. His brother happened to place in many of them. This is a hard lesson in life, for any kid with or without some physical challenges. One hand you want to shelter your child from the sadness not placing in an event brings, but on the other hand, life is not fair, everyone has their strengths and we just have to work hard at the ones God blessed us with having. Ethan wasn't terribly distraught, even declined the offer from Ashton to have some of his stickers he received for placing in the events.
After we ate our picnic lunch the kids got to participate in a water balloon toss game. Then it was the parents turns to play the game. My partner and I did really well...we were one of the last 4 in the game, but as the balloon came to me it broke and soaked my face and chest! And the worst of all...my kids weren't even around for some reason to see it happen!
This is Ethan's classmate and friend, Liv! The two of them were great budsall school year! We'll miss her next year!!!
At the very end of the afternoon they had the closing ceremonies. This is the time that they announced who placed overall in each of the grades. Guess who won the gold medal for K-1 grade??? Yep...our little dynamo...Ashton!!!
It was a great afternoon. Circle does such a great job at everything they do. We'll definitely be back one day!

They looked like they had such fun!! They are such cute boys. What a great day!
We went through the same thing this week...with one bro winning, the other not. I always tell them, when your brother wins it's like you are winning too(because we are family etc). :)
Awww, what a fun day for the boys! It's such a hard thing to watch...as a parent, you want your kids to excel equally and it just doesn't happen that way. So it's our job to quickly find out the strengths of each and make sure they understand each of them were blessed with differences of skill, talents, ambitions, etc. I'm sure you know all that anyway, and handled it just fine :) Still, it's hard to watch.
