We have a reader, folks!!!

I have always been an avid reader.  I came home from college one Christmas break and proceeded to hole myself up in my room, much to my mother's chagrin, and read something like 6 books during that week I was home.  I can easily start a book when the kids go to bed and stay up to finish it.

Needless to say, reading is always HIGH on my list when it comes to passing something on to my children.  As Preston likes to quote the boys, "Readers are Leaders!"

My children LOVE LOVE LOVE listening to me read or will listen for HOURS to books on CD.  They are more hesitant to shout out their undying love for silent reading to themselves however, even though they usually always admit to liking a book once they start it.

This morning, though, you must imagine my surprise when BOTH of my boys begged me to start school 30 minutes later so that they could read their books they started the day before.  Ummm...YES!

When it was time for us to get started with school, I was met with much distain. LOL  I was really surprised by Ashton, who kept on and on over how much he loved his book.  Every 5 minutes he kept asking me if he could return to his book!  I kinda thought he was pulling my leg a bit, or just trying to get out of his class work, but wouldn't you know it...we ran an errand at lunch time and he brought the book with him!

 Then when we got home, he continued reading...

And out again to take Ethan to an afternoon playdate....the book came along with us too!

All in all I believe he read close to 2 hours today!  This mama's heart was incredibly happy!!!
