Last week, as we've been studying Egyptian hieroglyphics, the boys got to make their own cartouches. Cartouches are clay tablets that had inscriptions (hieroglyphics)
To make the "clay" we used salt, warm water and flour.
The boys mixed it together first with a spoon...
Then directions called for them to use their hands for five minutes...
We finally had a workable ball...

The boys then inscribed their cartouches with the symbols for an Egyptian Queen. Someone may have gotten more help from me than the other...just saying.
The cartouches had to sit overnight to harden before we could proceed any further with them. In the meantime, in their independent history time they learned how to draw a pyramid
Ashton enjoys doing some of his schoolwork to music. Says it helps him concentrate better.
For science that day he need to copy a lengthy bible verse that went along with our lesson. I was super proud of him completing it to the best of HIS ability and without complaining.
Today the cartouches were dry so we got to complete them. They painted them brown and dabbed off any extra paint.
Ethan has about three different books going on right now. Here he is reading The Hobbit. We told him if he wanted to see the film in December, he had to read the book first. He's really enjoying it!
It was a yucky rainy day outside this particular day...so we all cuddled up in my bed with our own books and read for a while.
