The purpose of the assignment was to watch the raisins get "lifted" inside of the glass as a result of the gas that is given off by mixing the vinegar and baking soda together. We had been talking about Jesus' ascension into the heavens and how excited those who witnessed it must have felt...if we get this excited over watching raisins being lifted by bubbles, imagine the GLEE and utter marvel over watching our Holy Savior being lifted to the heavens!!!
Well....in theory, it sounded like a GREAT lesson. We got all of our ingredients out...followed the instructions and waited...
and waited...
and waited...
and waited...
and nothing happened! Bummer! So we talked about what it should have looked like and how excited we would have been to actually see it take place, and how much more exciting it would have been to witness Jesus' ascension. We then went on with our day and actually had some errands to run.
Guess what happened when we got back??? That's right...the raisins were floating on the top! We missed the entire raisin ascension!!! grrrr.... :)
