We got the opportunity to join some friends of ours, The Crescentis, for a family vacation to Bimini, Bahamas! They have a good friend that happens to be a world famous Latin (Grammy winning) Recording Artist offer his place for free to us for the week. Heck ya!
We had to drive down to Ft. Lauderdale and then charter a plane, a SMALL plane, over to the island!
After they balanced all of our bags, they had us sit in designated seats according to our weights. Preston got to be the co-pilot for the trip! ;)
Umm...excuse me Mr. Pilot, but we are on EMPTY!!! or so we thought. He flipped a switch and it immediately showed it to be full. Thank goodness! :)
All of our stuff, which was an INSANE amount of stuff for 5 days away. Between the baby items, sand toys, and ALL of our food for the week, we had A LOT of stuff to pack!
I think we all were a tiny bit nervous being on such a small plane, in such confined quarters. But the flight was really only about 30 minutes, including take off and landing.
The island of Bimini only has about 2300 residents. It is a very small island, only 7 miles long by 700 ft. wide. We were all joking amongst ourselves that they must have some type of Bimini scam going on to spread the wealth because once we got off the plane we had to take 3 different taxis, one water taxi and then a shuttle to get to our rooms. That means fees for each one, including tips for all of our heavy luggage. The water was gorgeous! Depending on where you looked the water would be anywhere from bright blue to an emerald green color almost.
We had a 6 passenger golf cart to use to get around the island. We made many trips inland to get some Bimini Bread....some of the BEST bread we've ever eaten. Traveling with little ones in tow (The Crescenti's girls are 7 months and almost 3) we had nap times to work around, but it always seemed to work out just fine. They were definitely AWESOME travelers.
The island itself is VERY poor. The homes are very very run down. Many of them I'm not really sure how they live in them. They would certainly be condemned if they were in the States. We saw goats running around eating vegetation wherever they could find some.
There were two pools at the resort we stayed in. This one was my favorite. It had an infinity wall off the backside of the pool, so that it looked like the pool was actually apart of the ocean. We got dinner here a couple of nights poolside which was very nice.
On the first evening, before dusk, we went exploring one of the beaches in our regular street clothes. I snuck in behind Ashton and pulled us both in! The water felt SOOO good I couldn't resist. He was so surprised, but I think as equally excited that his mom would do something like that! FUN!!
We spent most of our time in the water, it really was the PERFECT temperature, looking for cool shells. We EVEN had several Manta Rays swim within 10 feet of us on a couple of occasions.
It was pretty amazing how many of these conch like shells we found. It was as if you could just reach your hand down in the water and pull one of these up! It was a lot of fun!
We also did some of this too.... ahhh relaxation!
Mr. Crescenti buried Ethan in the sand on a few occasions too...
Daddy and Ashton rented a kayak one afternoon. I tried it, it was definitely a workout, so I gave the paddles back to daddy! :)

It was a great time of relaxation and getting away as a family!

I'm so glad that you pulled Ashton in. We cannot resist beach water...street clothes or swim trunks! LOVE the photo of y'all in the infinity pool. That is so neat! Looks like 5 beautiful days :) And of course...a beautiful family xxoo
