Track Shack was putting on a run in Winter Park at Showalter Field for the House of Hope. first 150 kids got shirts and the best part is they are all free!
We got there with about 5 minutes to spare, registered, got the shirts and bib numbers on and started to stretch out! Ethan wanted to run too, which we were thrilled with! Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of Ethan...he was running to the restroom as Ashton was stretching.

There were two races for the kids. The first race was the 1 miler...4 times around the track. Both boys opted for this race vs. the younger kids race of 1 lap around the track.
The gun sounded and they were off! Unfortunately Ashton shot off the start line with a bit too much gusto and quickly tired out. This was his very first race so I think pacing will have greater meaning for him knowing if you start too fast, it wears you out quicker!
It was difficult finding Ethan in the mix of everyone. We finally saw him around the track, only to see him complete one lap and decide that was enough! He told me that he stopped to help this girl and felt bad leaving her behind! ;) I think it was all a bit overwhelming for him, but told him how proud we were of him simply trying it!
Ashton walked quite a bit of it, would then sprint, then walk, etc.. Learning to pace will be instrumental in his success. But even with all the walking, he still came in under 10 minutes!
And every participant got a ribbon from the big yellow pineapple men! haha
He was worn out, but glad he did it! He's already talking about when the next race will be. Now it's time to go home to rest up for his basketball game just a few hours later!!!

Waiting for the race to start!
